2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X: America’s Fastest Hybrid Hypercar

Reaching 60 mph in less than two seconds, the 2026 Corvette ZR1X is GM's fastest vehicle yet.

General Motors has launched a new high-performance hybrid Corvette called the ZR1X. The Corvette lineup has been expanded with this new upgraded model of the American sports car.

The 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X was introduced on Tuesday by the Detroit automaker, which referred to it as a “hypercar.”This model is an upgraded version of the Corvette E-Ray hybrid released in 2023. The new model has a similar twin-turbo V-8 engine and performance capabilities to the current Corvette ZR1. However, the modern electrification technologies allow the ZR1X to accelerate faster. Corvette's marketing manager, Megan Dalley, said that this is the most advanced Corvette ever produced and referred to it as America’s true hypercar. With this car, they are showing the capabilities of Corvettes and American supercars to the world, she added. The term "hypercar" refers to a car that is more powerful than a "supercar," based on a variety of performance aspects, including speed, acceleration, and 0–60 mph timings. However, both hypercars and supercars are faster than regular sports cars. The acceleration time of GM’s fastest Corvette ever is less than two seconds from 0 to 60 miles per hour, with a top speed of 233 mph.

The LT7 twin-turbo V-8 engine, which powers both ZR1 models, generates 1,064 horsepower and 828 pound-feet of torque. To increase performance, the ZR1X has an electronic axle. GM will announce the Corvette ZR1X's price closer to the car's release in stores later this year.
