AD Partners With Habitat for H...ARCHITECTURE AND INTERIOR DESIGN
AD joins San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity and the Foothill Catalog Foundation to help rebuild homes in Altadena through its Design Making a Difference campaign.
Architectural Digest (AD) has partnered with San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity and the Foothill Catalog Foundation to support home rebuilding efforts in Altadena, California, extending its ongoing Design Making a Difference campaign into community-level housing recovery.
The collaboration focuses on restoring and rebuilding homes for families impacted by housing instability and recent regional disruptions. Through a combination of design expertise, material donations, and volunteer labor, AD and its nonprofit partners aim to deliver structurally sound, thoughtfully designed residences that prioritize long-term livability.
San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity will oversee construction and homeowner partnerships, while the Foothill Catalog Foundation is contributing funding and furnishing resources to ensure completed homes are move-in ready. AD’s editorial and design network is supporting the initiative through professional design guidance, supplier coordination, and public awareness.
“This project reflects how design can be a practical force for rebuilding lives, not just spaces,” an AD representative said. “By aligning with organizations that understand housing at the grassroots level, we’re turning creative resources into real impact.”
The Altadena effort represents the latest in AD’s Design Making a Difference campaign, which has previously supported disaster recovery, affordable housing initiatives, and community infrastructure projects across the U.S. The campaign continues to position design not as luxury, but as a tool for resilience and equity.
Construction on the initial homes is already underway, with additional phases planned throughout the year as funding and volunteer participation expand.
