Druva Launches Threat Watch for Proactive Threat Detection

Druva Launches Threat Watch for Proactive Threat Detection

Druva unveils Threat Watch, a new service offering proactive, continuous threat detection for enterprise data managed on its cloud platform.

Cloud data protection and management firm Druva has launched Threat Watch, a new security service designed to provide proactive, continuous threat detection for enterprise data. The service leverages advanced analytics and machine learning on the Druva Data Cloud platform to monitor for signs of ransomware, insider threats, data exfiltration, and compliance violations in real-time. This move expands Druva's offerings beyond traditional backup and recovery into active cybersecurity, aiming to identify and mitigate risks before they cause significant data loss or business disruption.

Threat Watch operates by analyzing metadata and data patterns across an organization's entire backup dataset, which serves as a clean, immutable copy for baseline comparison. It uses behavioral analysis to detect anomalies that indicate malicious activity, such as mass file encryption or unusual access patterns from compromised accounts. The service provides prioritized alerts and actionable insights directly within the Druva console, enabling security and IT teams to respond rapidly without switching between disparate tools.

"With Threat Watch, we are shifting the paradigm from reactive data recovery to proactive data resilience. Organizations can now detect threats targeting their backup data the last line of defense before a major incident occurs," said the Chief Product Officer at Druva. A senior analyst from a cybersecurity firm noted, "Integrating threat detection directly into the data management layer is a logical evolution. It closes a visibility gap that many attackers currently exploit."

This launch addresses a critical need as cyber threats become more sophisticated and targeted at backup repositories to maximize extortion leverage. It reflects the growing convergence of data management and security disciplines, where the data copy used for recovery is also the most reliable source for detecting large-scale compromise. The service is particularly relevant for organizations subject to stringent data protection and cyber resilience regulations.

Druva Threat Watch is available immediately as an add-on service for existing customers. The company plans to integrate further with popular Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) platforms later in 2026 to streamline security operations workflows.
