Jeddah Tower Set to Become Wor...ARCHITECTURE AND INTERIOR DESIGN
The Jeddah Tower, set for completion in 2030, will stand over 1,000 meters nearly 11 times the height of the Statue of Liberty as the centerpiece of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 economic diversification plan.
The Jeddah Tower, formerly known as Kingdom Tower, is poised to become the world's tallest skyscraper upon its expected completion in 2030. Rising over 1,000 meters (3,281 feet) in the Saudi Arabian port city, the structure will surpass the current record-holder, Dubai's Burj Khalifa, by approximately 180 meters. To grasp its monumental scale, the tower will stand nearly 11 times the height of the Statue of Liberty.
Designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture the firm behind the Burj Khalifa the neo-futuristic tower features a sleek, tapered form inspired by the folded fronds of young palm leaves sprouting from the desert. This aerodynamic shape is not merely aesthetic; it is engineered to reduce wind loads on the unprecedented structure. The building's Y-shaped core and deep foundation, extending over 60 meters into the ground, are designed to manage stress distribution and withstand regional geological challenges.
The Jeddah Tower is the centerpiece of the $20 billion Jeddah Economic City development, a 5.2 million square meter waterfront project. Upon completion, the mixed-use tower will house a Four Seasons hotel, luxury apartments, Class A office space, and what is anticipated to be the world's highest observation deck. The project aligns directly with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, a strategic framework aimed at diversifying the nation's economy by attracting global investment and tourism, thereby reducing its dependency on oil.
Construction on the tower began in 2013 but was halted in 2018 after approximately one-third of the structure was complete, due to a combination of political and economic factors. Work officially restarted in early 2025, and with renewed momentum, the developer, Jeddah Economic Company, has set a new target completion date of 2030. The project is managed by Turner, a U.S. contractor with deep experience in supertall construction, including the Burj Khalifa.
