Paul Thomas Anderson's 'One Battle After Another' won Best Picture at the 98th Oscars, taking home six awards including Best Director. 'Sinners' won four, with Michael B. Jordan claiming Best Actor.

Paul Thomas Anderson's "One Battle After Another" claimed Best Picture at the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday, leading a night that saw the darkly comic thriller dominate with six Oscars including Best Director for Anderson. The film also won Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor for Sean Penn, Best Film Editing and the newly introduced Best Casting category.

Anderson accepted the award alongside producer Sara Murphy, acknowledging the stacked field of nominees. "There is no best among them, there's just a mood that day," he said, calling out his cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Teyana Taylor and Chase Infiniti. "What a night. Let's have a martini. Cheers!"

Ryan Coogler's vampire horror "Sinners" took home four awards including Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Cinematography for Autumn Durald Arkapaw and Best Original Score. Arkapaw made history as the first woman and first woman of color to win in the cinematography category.

Jessie Buckley completed her awards season sweep, winning Best Actress for "Hamnet" and becoming the first Irish actress to claim the prize. She dedicated the award to "the beautiful chaos of a mother's heart" on Mother's Day in the UK.

Sean Penn won his third career Oscar for Best Supporting Actor but was absent. Presenter Kieran Culkin joked, "Sean Penn couldn't be here, or didn't want to, so I'll accept." Amy Madigan won Best Supporting Actress for horror thriller "Weapons," 40 years after her first nomination.

Netflix's "KPop Demon Hunters" won Best Animated Feature, with its song "Golden" becoming the first K-pop track to win Best Original Song. "Avatar: Fire and Ash" won Best Visual Effects for the third consecutive time.
