TCS Nashik Case Update: No Int...TCS told media on Friday that preliminary reviews found no internal complaints of harassment or conversion at its Nashik unit. The Silicon Review reports on the IT giant's latest statement, the newly formed Keki Mistry-led oversight panel, and the expanding police probe.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) issued a detailed statement on Friday addressing the ongoing investigation into serious allegations of sexual harassment and religious coercion at its Nashik facility. While extending full cooperation to the police and affirming a zero-tolerance policy, the IT giant said a preliminary review of its internal records found no complaints of the alleged nature through its ethics or POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) channels.
"A preliminary review of the systems and records pertaining to the Nashik unit indicates that we have not received any complaints of the nature that are being alleged on either our ethics or POSH channels," TCS CEO and Managing Director K. Krithivasan said in a statement. He clarified that the company is now conducting a thorough internal investigation, which is being led by President and COO Aarthi Subramanian, with support from independent advisors Deloitte and law firm Trilegal.
The company has also constituted an oversight committee chaired by Keki Mistry, an independent director on the TCS board. The committee will review the findings of the internal investigation and oversee the implementation of any recommendations.
Additionally, TCS denied widespread reports that its Nashik unit had been shut down. The company said the facility continues to operate normally and dismissed claims of a shutdown as "entirely untrue."
Addressing specific claims about an individual widely named in media reports, TCS clarified that Nida Khan, who is being repeatedly referred to as an HR manager, is neither an HR manager nor responsible for recruitment. "She served as a process associate and held no leadership responsibilities," the statement said.
Meanwhile, the police investigation continues to expand The Nashik Special Investigation Team (SIT) has detained the husband of absconding accused Nida Khan for interrogation. Police teams are actively searching for her after finding a locked house belonging to her relatives in Nashik.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis chaired a review meeting of the Home Department on Saturday, directing the police to pursue the investigation with "equal vigour" and examine all potential angles. He also commended the Nashik Police for unearthing the case themselves.
The allegations, which include claims of an "organized pattern" of behavior by supervisory staff targeting vulnerable junior colleagues between 2022 and 2026, have led to nine FIRs and multiple arrests, including an assistant general manager.
As TCS says no internal complaints were found while setting up a Keki Mistry-led oversight panel, The Silicon Review examines the widening gap between the police investigation and the company's internal review and what the coming weeks will reveal about accountability at one of India's largest corporate employers.
