Rebecca Guard by Pete & Gabi: How It Can Detect AI Interview Frauds

Rebecca Guard by Pete & Gabi: How It Can Detect AI Interview Frauds

Rebecca Guard was created to identify candidates who may be using ChatGPT, Claude, or any other AI during interviews. Rebecca Guard will work seamlessly with Rebecca AI, the company’s interview platform, to ensure fair assessments from the beginning of a session.

As AI interview tools continue to improve in answering interview questions in real time, many job candidates have begun to secretly utilize them in the background during virtual interviews by supplying them with questions to deliver back answers equivalent to a digital answer sheet.

Pete & Gabi created Rebecca AI to specifically identify such a practice. When recruiting organizations use Rebecca AI in their interviewing process; Rebecca Guard helps to ensure the integrity of the respective sessions.

Built into the Rebecca AI experience

Rebecca Guard is an application that uses a lightweight desktop application, installed locally on a candidates’ Mac or Windows computer. When the candidate is running Rebecca AI in their browser, Rebecca Guard will also run in a visible area either from the Mac system tray (for Mac users) or in Windows menu bar system tray (for Windows users), allowing both applications to communicate compliance statuses with each other.

This process of using Rebecca Guard begins with the recruitment team installing Rebecca AI as their interview platform. This means once the organization begins using their interview platform, Rebecca Guard installs automatically as a companion safeguard operating on the candidate's computer while the candidate is having an interview.  In turn, it will monitor background activity on the candidate’s computer for prohibited software during the interview being conducted through Rebecca AI.

AI Interview Cheating Detection: How Rebecca Guard Works

During an interviewing session, Rebecca Guard will periodically conduct a local check against the predefined employer's blacklist for currently running applications. If an application on the blacklist is detected, the session will be flagged for either review or restricted.

The following categories of applications would be flagged and/or restricted:

  • AI Interview Assistance applications such as Cluely, Parakeet, InterviewsBy, Final Round
  • AI Chat Assistance applications like ChatGPT Desktop, Claude Desktop
  • Remote Access Software such as, TeamViewer, AnyDesk
  • Live Transcription Applications like Otter, Fireflies

These will only trigger a warning and not an automatic block.

The goal of the Rebecca Guard application is not to guess the intent of an individual or monitor the behavior of individuals; it is strictly used to identify those applications that are present on an established detection list, as to the company's notice: The Rebecca Guard application does not attempt to make a guess about the user's intent or behavior but to identify only the applications present on the detection list.

Built to disappear, not linger

After the interview, Rebecca Guard will not be lingering around. It's created that after an hour of downloading, it will automatically uninstall itself from your computer without any background service, drivers, or continued monitoring being on the system. After the interview is completed, you can also remove Rebecca Guard manually from your computer.

What it means for employers

The use of Rebecca AI facilitates the interview process and verifies that no prohibited applications are active in conjunction with Rebecca Guard, creating a seamless and unified means for recruiting teams to maintain the integrity of their evaluations. Employers will have the ability to amend their list of prohibited applications over time as new AI tools are developed without having to re-design the system.

Rebecca Guard does not determine candidate scores, rank candidates, or make hiring decisions by itself; it merely communicates if any prohibited applications were detected during the interview, leaving all hiring decisions up to each recruiting organization.

The synergy between Rebecca AI and Rebecca Guard by Pete & Gabi indicates not only a major trend toward greater interview integrity but also that interview integrity has become an integral part of the recruiting platform rather than an add-on.
