US Iran War Escalates: US President Trump Questions Tehran's Credibility After Fresh Strikes, But Is Washington Also Breaking Promises?

US Iran war entered a dangerous new phase after President Donald Trump claimed the US had "already won militarily" while questioning whether Iran was "worthy" of a deal. If diplomacy is still on the table, why does every new negotiation begin with more bombs and accusations of breaking promises?

The US Iran war intensified for a second straight night as the United States struck around 90 Iranian targets, saying the attacks were retaliation for assaults on commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian media reported explosions across the country's southern coast and strategic Gulf islands, while Tehran answered by launching attacks on US military bases in Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain.

The battlefield is expanding. So is the contradiction.

If military victory is already secured, why does every headline still end with another warning, another strike, and another round of talks?

Speaking aboard Air Force One, US President Donald Trump insisted the US had "hit them very hard" and claimed Iran had "very little left." Yet moments later, he also said that Tehran wants to negotiate.

"I just don't know if they're worthy of making a deal. I don't know that they're gonna honour the deal," US President Trump said.

The remarks came less than 24 hours after US President Donald Trump reportedly dismissed negotiations as "a waste of time."

Iran quickly fired back.

Chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf accused Washington of relying on force while breaking promises, saying America "still hasn't learned that bullying and breaking promises are no longer cost-free."

Who is really keeping diplomacy alive, and who is using it as leverage?

That question now sits at the heart of the conflict. Washington says military pressure forces Iran back to the table. Tehran argues every new strike proves the US cannot be trusted. Both claim they want peace. Both continue to prepare for war.

The costs are no longer limited to the Middle East. A longer US Iran war could shake global oil markets, push fuel prices higher, disrupt international shipping, and pull more regional powers into an already volatile conflict. For now, the missiles have not stopped.

Neither have the negotiations. If both sides insist they want a deal, the real question is simple:

Who benefits from keeping the war alive?

As the US Iran war enters another volatile chapter, the real battle is no longer just over military power. It is over credibility. When both governments accuse the other of breaking promises, the biggest casualty may be the possibility of lasting peace itself.  The Silicon Review asks As the US-Iran war enters another volatile chapter, is the real battle no longer about military power but about credibility?
