BurnAlong delivers Employee Wellness Built for Today's New World

BurnAlong's journey started in Maryland when the company’s co-founders, Daniel Freedman and Mike Kott, met and bonded over shared experiences with loved ones – their grandmothers – who were struggling with cancer and weight challenges and weren't doing the health and wellness programming they needed to do. Traditional fitness videos of 22-year-olds with 6-pack abs weren't inspiring, nor was one-directional instruction (they’d just stay in bed).

What did motivate them was relatable, inclusive wellness programming and the social support of loved ones cheering them on. That led to conversations with doctors, HR and wellness professionals, and an understanding that this was a broader societal crisis. Looking at the numbers, 80% of the population doesn't get the recommended levels of exercise. 40% of adults are obese. 78% of those 55+ have chronic conditions. Prescriptions for anxiety and depression are on the rise. People aren't getting the right nutrition.

People's health support is today viewed as the responsibility of the company, and yet the standard engagement in corporate wellness programming is a mere 4%: even then it's usually the young and active. Something very different was needed.

BurnAlong is different. The company is built on that simple yet industry-changing philosophy that if you want to help people achieve their health and wellness goals, the way to do it is to bring them:

  1. Programming they find relatable and inspiring.
  2. Social support to keep them active and engaged.

You'll find all of this programming on one platform. For families, BurnAlong's class offerings can span across generations of people. For companies, all employees are treated equally and can be in goals and challenges together.

BurnAlong is a health and wellness platform that is used by municipalities, universities, hospitals, and companies of all sizes – who are seeing 5x the engagement levels of traditional wellness programs. That’s achieved by bringing people online the two things that work offline, in-person: an inspiring & relatable instructor and social motivation.

The company's holistic approach provides classes and coaching for physical, emotional, mental, and even financial wellness. From anywhere in the world, access complete programs to address a wide range of health challenges: from prenatal to aging, coping with disabilities, or managing chronic conditions like diabetes, insomnia, cancer, stress and so much more. Wherever you are in your journey, BurnAlong's got you covered.

BurnAlong's clients range from construction companies, to factories, to banks, to tech companies, to hospitals, to insurers, to sports teams, to the military. Its youngest users are 6-weeks old (in Mommy and Me classes) and oldest are in their 90s with Parkinson’s Disease. In between, BurnAlong has everyone from university students, to athletes, to active seniors.

The company provides classes that span 45+ categories across physical, emotional, and financial wellness, and include areas like adaptive workouts, pre-natal, cancer, chronic conditions, sleep, anxiety, and areas ignored by most platforms. BurnAlong's 2,000+ (and constantly growing) instructor partners range from NFL trainers, to cancer and mental health specialists.

Changes Lives

For the hundreds of instructors and wellness professionals the company partners with, BurnAlong strengthens connections with the people they inspire – and introduces them to thousands more.

For the companies and hospitals it works with, BurnAlong delivers real results. And for its members, it changes lives. BurnAlong inspires great stories in its community — from the new mother suffering from postpartum depression who started laughing and feeling great again after regularly taking classes with an old friend now on the other side of the country, to the grandmother who discovered a lump only because she lost weight taking classes – and successfully had it removed.

"As a Manager at a call center, when I do presentations for my staff, I like to end with a 3-minuted guided meditation about gratitude from Kaleigh Backus. This really helps my staff in decompressing from the presentation we just finished and transition back into the workday. Our staff loves this and raves about helpful it is for them," said Alice Holmes, KP Operation Manager, Fulton.

A Corporate Fitness App that Works

With the shift to a hybrid working model for many companies, a health club credit or membership isn't enough to invest in your employees’ health and wellness anymore. Office teams today need an online and on-demand corporate fitness program that they, and their families, can access anytime and anywhere.

A company can reduce its healthcare costs by investing in their employees’ wellbeing with BurnAlong's live and on-demand classes offered by 2,000+ credentialed instructors so the workforce can access cardio, yoga, strength training, online Tai Chi, stretching, running, boxing, barre, cycling, dance classes and so much more.

"Having a platform that you trust is so important because there are a lot of things out there that you don’t want your kids accessing. From my personal experience as a mom, being able to advertise that the BurnAlong platform is safe for kids to our employees puts everybody at ease," said Ana Flores, Benefits Coordinator.
