Based in Calgary, Canada, Evolved Equilibrium is designed for ambitious executives, entrepreneurs, and business owners who seek not only to excel but to do so sustainably. At its core is a simple yet profound belief: true success is measured by a life of purpose, alignment and feeling fully alive.

Guiding this mission is Allison Mones, a high-performance health and business coach with a unique background. Her approach integrates cutting-edge neuroscience and health optimization techniques with peak performance business strategies, empowering clients to unlock their limitless potential without sacrificing their well-being. Mones’ journey is both inspiring and relatable. This realization became the foundation of Evolved Equilibrium.

In conversation with Allison Mones, Founder and CEO of Evolved Equilibrium

Q. As a woman in leadership with a strong background in STEM and business, how has your experience shaped your approach to empowering other women, especially those dealing with high-pressure roles?

Through my experiences as a woman in STEM and business, working in predominantly male-dominated fields like structural engineering and the energy industry, I’ve seen firsthand how high-pressure environments require constant adaptability and resilience from everyone, regardless of gender. However, I’ve also observed that women often face unique challenges. Women’s brains are naturally wired for multitasking, collaboration, and creative thinking, which are incredible strengths. But these same strengths, combined with factors like caregiving roles, hormonal fluctuations, and societal expectations to overperform, can lead to higher stress levels and an increased risk of burnout.

In my coaching, I address these challenges by creating actionable strategies tailored for high performing women. I focus on empowering them to retrain their brains, fuel their bodies, and master their time and career moves effectively. The goal is to help them navigate demanding roles with more clarity, confidence, and energy, all while reducing stress. Ultimately, I want to inspire women to achieve career success without sacrificing joy or a sense of fulfillment in their personal lives.

Q. You’ve built and scaled a multi-six-figure business, which is a significant achievement. What are some key lessons you’ve learned about leadership and business that you wish more women entrepreneurs knew early in their journeys?

Some of the key lessons I’ve learned through my first business and building/scaling my new business with 7-8 figure goals are:

  • Own Your Value: Don’t undervalue your skills or hesitate to charge what you’re worth

  • Clarity is Power: Start with a clear vision and align every goal and action with your values and purpose

  • Progress over Perfection: Imperfect action creates success a lot quicker than overthinking. Be adaptable and keep moving.

  • Develop an Ecosystem: Surround yourself with a support system that uplifts you mentally, emotionally and professionally

  • Set and Honor Your Boundaries: Protect your time and energy with clear boundaries in both your personal and professional life

  • Neuroplasticity is Key: You can train your brain to overcome limiting beliefs and cultivate a growth mindset. Embrace challenges as opportunities for rewiring.

  • Fuel your Body: Peak performance in leadership is impossible without optimizing sleep, nutrition, stress management and a healthy lifestyle.

Q. With over 10 coaching and wellness certifications, you’ve developed a broad range of expertise. Which area of your coaching practice do you feel has the greatest impact on women leaders, and why?

Neuroscience-based coaching has a profound impact because it’s rooted in science and supported by research, empowering both women and men to understand and optimize how their brains and nervous systems function. By leveraging habits and tools grounded in flow states and neuroplasticity, I help my clients reframe limiting beliefs, reduce mental fatigue, regulate stress, and enhance mental clarity and focus. These skills not only improve performance but also create a foundation for sustained personal and professional growth.

When combined with functional lab tests, high performance nutrition and sustainable lifestyle shifts that support physical health and energy levels, the results are transformative. Clients experience improved leadership capabilities and unlock their full potential for success. In essence, this approach allows you to upgrade both your mind and your body, elevating your capacity for energy and achievement to a whole new level.

Q. As someone who has thrived in traditionally male-dominated fields like STEM and project management, what advice would you give to women who are facing gender-related barriers in their industries?

I believe that many gender-related barriers are self-imposed or are specific to shortsighted leaders or company cultures rather than applying to entire industries. My advice for women in male dominated fields is:

  • Speak up: Advocate for yourself in meetings, negotiations or for opportunities

  • Leverage your Unique Perspective: Each one of us has insights and value to add that others can’t replicate

  • Find Allies and Mentors: Seek out supportive colleagues, mentors, networks or coaches to help advocate for your success

  • Build Confidence and Resilience: Knowledge and preparation as well as retraining your brain to overcome self-doubt can help you feel empowered and credible in any situation

  • Optimize cognitive health: Support your brain with proper nutrition, hydration and recovery practices that can have a huge impact on decision-making and performance

Q. With the increasing focus on sustainability in business, how do you incorporate your expertise in sustainability into your leadership coaching and consulting?

Sustainability isn’t just about environmental impact; it’s about creating practices and systems—whether in business, health, or life—that are efficient, adaptable, and aligned with long-term prosperity. My background in engineering and sustainable energy has shaped my understanding of how interconnected systems work. I integrate this knowledge into my coaching and consulting by helping leaders cultivate repeatable processes and habits that optimize energy, mental clarity, and performance.

Additionally, I guide them in developing and implementing business strategies, systems, and technologies that not only address immediate challenges but also support their long-term goals. This holistic approach ensures that both individuals and organizations can thrive in a sustainable way, balancing short-term needs with future growth.

Q. How important is it for women leaders to cultivate a sense of community and support, especially in the often isolating roles of CEOs and business owners?

Community is essential for all executives and business owners because the brain thrives on connection. For top executive roles, especially for Founders and CEOs, a like-minded and supportive community can provide invaluable perspective, encouragement, and collaboration opportunities that foster empowerment and shared growth. This often creates a ripple effect of success, benefiting everyone involved. Such communities can include personal relationships, work colleagues, and other entrepreneurs or executives.

As an entrepreneur myself, continually working to build and scale my businesses for greater impact, I’ve found it critical to hire coaches and mentors, and to surround myself with networks of leaders who are already doing what I aspire to achieve. This not only provides guidance but also pushes me out of my comfort zone, driving continuous growth and helping me reach new heights.

Q. What does the future hold for your company and its customers? Are exciting things on the way?

The future of Evolved Equilibrium is focused on empowering ambitious executives and their teams to unlock their unlimited potential in both their careers and entrepreneurial ventures. We aim to challenge the current Western paradigms that have normalized hustle culture, burnout, quick-fix mental health solutions, and sacrificed personal lives as part of the price of achievement. This approach is neither sustainable nor reflective of truly living a fulfilling life.

For companies seeking longevity and peak performance, the return on investment simply isn’t there with the current model. True innovation, creativity, and peak performance stem from flourishing individuals, and that’s what we’re dedicated to supporting. Our mission is to provide high-performing executives with sustainable strategies for achieving peak performance across health, life, and business.

We’re excited to announce that we’ll be launching a comprehensive social media campaign in December 2024, filled with valuable resources and strategies. Additionally, we’ll be rolling out several new programs including our signature 12-week burnout program and our website in Q1 of 2025—so there’s lots to look forward to!
