The university of Tokyo and IBM recently made an announcement that they are partnering to make advances in quantum computing. This agreement to partner will work for the benefit of society, industry, and science. The university and IBM will form a broad partnership framework called the Japan – IBM Quantum Partnership in which other industry, government, and universities can engage. The partnership is expected to have three tracks of engagement one will focus on development of quantum computing system, another on quantum application development for industry, and the third will focus on improving the state of quantum education and science. As per the agreement, In IBM facility of Japan an IBM Q system will be installed and the facility will be operated by IBM. The installation is one of a kind in Japan region and one among the three in the world following Germany and the United States.
Advance research in quantum application, software, and algorithm will be done on the Q System One with the goal of developing a practical application for quantum computing. The university and IBM is right on track to create a first-of-a-kind technology center for quantum system development. The new finding from the center will be used in the next generation of quantum computers.
