ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Goodloading - load planning software using AI

Goodloading AI
The Silicon Review
13 June, 2023

In the world of transport and logistics, where the efficiency and speed of operations are extremely important, tools based on artificial intelligence are becoming more and more necessary. One such solution is Goodloading - load planning software that uses the potential of AI to maximize the efficiency of the loading process. Its developers provide a free trial version for testing - more information at the end of the article.

The software has been available on the market for eight years, during which time, according to industry suggestions, the functions and appearance of the program have been constantly developed “Over these last few years, we have implemented dozens of functionalities that support the optimal loading process. Observing the strong development of the industry and the growing demand for new functions, we began working on a new algorithm. While working with a team of physicists and IT specialists, we decided to implement not one, but several dozen algorithms, including those based on artificial intelligence”, says Bogumił Paszkiewicz, CEO of Goodloading.

In this way, Goodloading heralds a new era of load planning. The innovativeness of the new version consists above all in the concentration of several dozen algorithms, which, after adding data by the user, suggest the best distribution of loads in the cargo space, taking into account the necessary parameters. These algorithms will learn along with subsequent projects prepared by the users, proposing ever better solutions.

Q. How does Goodloading load planning software work?

Goodloading is a tool that allows you to load pallets or other types of cargo virtually, onto a semi-trailer or air or sea container. Thanks to the application, you can easily plan the loading process so as to make the most of the cargo space. This container or lorry loading software is available online, so no installation is required. It will work both in companies dealing with sea, road and air transport, as well as intermodal transport or palletisation.

The operation of the application itself is easy enough. Simply select the cargo spaces and then add the selected loads. Goodloading will present the best arrangement on a 3D visualisation, where the user can manually adjust their arrangement.

Q. How to optimise the load with load planning software?

One of the most important challenges for logistics companies is to reduce transport costs. Planning the distribution of loads is one of the elements whose improvement can generate greater savings and improve the efficiency of logistics operations.

For most companies, load planning does not constitute a major problem. As long as the loads are stacked on pallets and the semi-trailer is of standard dimensions, even a novice logistician should be able to indicate how many pallets will fit on a lorry. However, when it comes to more diverse loads, where the goods are on pallets of various sizes, things become a bit more complicated. If it is often necessary to check whether the goods will not overload the lorry, axle loads or the centre of gravity of the container, then the whole process may take several minutes. “Our users say that thanks to Goodloading, they are able to save half an hour to two hours, when planning loading compared to traditional methods", adds Bogumił Paszkiewicz.

Q. Does load optimisation software result in lower costs?

Yes, definitely. If, during load planning it turns out that there will be an additional free space on the semi-trailer, we have two options. To generate more profit, we can try to plan a top-up en route, or choose a smaller vehicle to transport the freight, which can further reduce transport costs. The program allows you to add many points along the route and distribute loads relative to the place of unloading.

A ready loading project sent to the warehouse supports the person responsible for loading, making the process faster and more effective.

Another thing is the possibility of taking into account the axle loads and the permissible total weight. Such data available in the application may reduce the risk of receiving a fine for overloading the semi-trailer and the costs associated with reloading.

A new version of load planning software is available. Test it for free.

In April, a new version of the Goodloading application premiered. The main features available in the Goodloading include:

  • the ability to add cubic loads, pipes or barrels;
  • the ability to work with any semi-trailers, sea and air containers and pallets, which can then be transferred to the selected vehicle.
  • adding data to an application from an Excel program;
  • three-dimensional visualisation with the possibility of manually adjusting loads;
  • the ability to share the project as a PDF file or a link;
  • access to data on free and occupied cargo space, volume or weight;
  • loading taking into account several points en route (multi-stops);
  • setting the centre of gravity or axle loads;
  • palletisation function.

See if you can generate more savings by using innovative tools.

Thanks to the optimisation of the available space, the cost of the application can be recouped after just one completed order. The new version of the application can be tested free of charge for two weeks by registering via the form on the website. If you have any questions, please contact info@goodloading.com.
