Ayana Bio joined forces with W...Ayana Bio is partnered up with Wooree Green Science for plant cell-derived saffron
Ayana Bio, the Boston-based plant cell technology company, agreed to a seven-year joint research and development project with South Korea’s Wooree Green Science to develop plant cell-derived and other important bioactive ingredients. It dabbles with biotechnology to help with agricultural fields, mainly with sustainability needs. This new alliance will help both parties move forward with the development of many bioactive ingredients. These are vital health and wellness products that are big in the South Korean market. Ayana Bio’s plant cell technology is a way of creating plant-based materials without actually growing plants. This technology starts with identifying the best plant cell lines. Then the lines are tested for vital characteristics like bioactive potency, stability, purity, and so on.
Ayana mentioned to the press that Ayana and Wooree will collaborate on pushing the boundaries of availability and the amount of production while also managing to make the products affordable. The main focus is on the underdeveloped beneficial botanical ingredients like saffron. Frank Jaksch, the CEO of Ayana Bio, said that saffron faces a critical and unforeseen future because it shifts with weather patterns, pollution, water, and many other factors that are, in short, in the places that saffron is usually known to be growing. Um Tae Wook, the CEO of Wooree Green Science, added that this collaboration is very exciting for the company as both parties can benefit largely from it.
