Google Marks 20 Years in India...Google's Gemini AI is at the center of this project and will soon be incorporated into all of its products
As Google celebrates 20 years in India, the tech giant has announced a bold initiative to bring artificial intelligence (AI) to every Indian user. During the 10th edition of Google for India, the company unveiled plans to expand AI capabilities in regional languages, establish a Google Safety Engineering Centre (GSEC) by 2025, and empower 10 million Indians with AI skills.
Google's Gemini AI is at the center of this project and will soon be incorporated into all of its products. Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, and the other nine Indian languages will be added to Gemini Live, which is now available in English. The AI-powered summaries and in-depth insights that Google Search offers through AI Overviews will also soon extend to additional regional languages, having been introduced in English and Hindi so far. A significant focus on security and online safety was highlighted with the upcoming GSEC, designed to develop solutions tailored to Indian needs. Google also announced its "AI Opportunity Agenda for India," which aims to promote inclusive adoption, innovation, and the creation of an AI-ready workforce, in association with the government's India AI Mission.
In collaboration with Eka Care, Google will make Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID cards accessible via Google Wallet, benefiting over 600 million ABHA holders. Additionally, Google Cloud plans to leverage the Beckn-enabled open networks to enhance services across sectors like agriculture and education. This comprehensive AI strategy underscores Google's commitment to driving technological progress and inclusivity across India.
