Escape From Tarkov Wipe Faces ...Escape From Tarkov wipe launch hits major technical issues, frustrating players and streamers alike.
The new Escape From Tarkov wipe and patch launched with major technical issues. Players are losing their gear, being locked out of content they can access, and having trouble getting into raids. While the new content has been positive, it has been overshadowed by technical difficulties. Streamers say it is one of the worst wipes in recent memory, as players face long queue times, frequent disconnects, and major lag spikes.
This has been one of the main issues: losing equipment or getting no reward at all after extracting from raids. Some even experience the weird glitch of being thrown back to the main menu after dying in a raid and then finding their gear still in their inventory. Streamer Pestily lost his precious LedX due to a bug that wrongly gave him XP for a raid that happened prior.
The patch notes for Escape From Tarkov 0.16.0.0 stated that the flea market would be closed during the first two weeks of the wipe in order to avoid rapid progression by hardcore players. Players found that the flea market was open and functioning as it had been at the end of the previous wipe, which allowed for the selling of rare items. As for the market, it was temporarily closed and the game went down, but all items sold were retained by players. This further caused more grievances. A secondary wipe might have been a better alternative; however, that was not done.
Worse still, game director Nikita Buyanov indicated that during this time, the game was under a DDOS attack. The timing did appear suspicious, coinciding with the flea market problem.
For those not yet jumping into the new wipe, it might be best to wait a day or two for the issues to be resolved. Players also look forward to Twitch Drops at the end of the year, which will give them rare items to help with early raids.
