Starbucks Joins MAHA Initiative to Promote Healthier Menu
The Silicon Review
24 June, 2025

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced Starbucks’ commitment to the Trump administration’s MAHA initiative.

A deliberate shift in Starbucks's product portfolio toward healthier options has been observed by the industry. Starbucks' CEO has pledged to further align the menu with the Trump administration's health goals under the "Make America Healthy Again" (MAHA) effort, according to a recent announcement made by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Kennedy has been examining the nation's food system closely to identify the primary causes of chronic diseases in children. He shared on X on Tuesday that he discussed with Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol and that the company plans to carry out the MAHA initiative's objectives in order to make their menu healthier. Kennedy said he was happy to know that artificial coloring, flavoring, high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, and other additives are not used in Starbucks' food or beverages. According to Starbucks, they had a successful meeting with Kennedy. A sugar-free vanilla latte with banana protein foam on top is one of the healthier drinks they have been experimenting with. Earlier this year, the company announced it would reduce its menu by 30% and focus on new ideas. Through the MAHA initiative, the administration plans to assist all Americans in living longer and healthier lives by emphasizing prevention, well-being, and long-term strength of its citizens.

Starbucks said their wide-range menu of food and drinks will assist customers in making nutritious decisions by clearly showing ingredients and nutrition information. They also added that they maintain integrity by not using artificial trans fats, colors, flavors, or high fructose corn syrup in their food products.
