Google Launches Free SAT Prep ...
Google releases free, AI-powered SAT practice tests using Gemini. It offers personalized lessons, instant feedback, and adaptive practice to rival paid test-prep services.
Google has officially launched a free, comprehensive SAT preparation service directly within its search ecosystem, powered entirely by its Gemini AI. The service, titled "Google SAT Prep," provides students with unlimited access to full-length, adaptive learning practice exams, personalized lesson plans, and detailed, instant feedback on both the Reading/Writing and Math sections.
The rollout directly challenges the multi-billion-dollar test preparation industry, particularly services like Khan Academy's College Board partnership and paid platforms such as Kaplan and The Princeton Review. By integrating Gemini, the service analyzes a student's answers in real time to generate custom explanations for errors, predict score trends, and recommend specific video lessons or problem sets from Google's open-source educational repository.
"We're using AI to democratize access to high-quality academic resources," stated a Google Education lead. "This isn't just a digital test bank. It's an adaptive tutor that understands where a student is struggling and provides the exact support they need to improve, for free."
The platform is accessible globally, operates on any device, and requires only a standard Google account. Features include a progress dashboard, performance analytics, and a "Focus Mode" that uses AI to identify and repeatedly drill a student's weakest skill areas. The practice exams are designed to mirror the adaptive, digital SAT format.
Educational advocates praise the move for its potential to level the playing field for low-income students, while analysts see it as a strategic play to deeply integrate Google's AI and services into the education sector. It also serves as a high-profile showcase for Gemini's analytical and tutoring capabilities.
Google has stated the service is a permanent offering and will be updated in alignment with future SAT changes. Data privacy controls allow students to opt out of having their practice data used for AI model improvement.
