Vietnam’s best digital infrastructure service provider, CMC Telecom, is a one-stop-shop for all integrated telecommunications and IT services needs

In Vietnam, the revenue share of traditional voice calls and messages has gradually contracted over the years, reflecting the shift in users’ preferences towards mobile data consumption. Network operators are shifting focus from traditional telecom infrastructure and services to digital contents. The telecommunications industry is a key driver behind Vietnam’s digital transformation. As the country moves to implement the fourth industrial revolution, the telecommunications industry will play a vital role in the process.

The current level of competition in the telecommunications industry in Vietnam is really high, but one company that stands out from the rest is CMC Telecom. Founded in the year 2008 as a member of the CMC Group, CMC Telecom predominantly focuses on providing robust, one-stop Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solutions for enterprises with a high quality of service. Ngo Trong  Hieu, CEO of CMC Telecom, spoke exclusively to The Silicon Review on how his company is bringing high standard ICT solutions and an integrated telecommunications infrastructure network beyond Vietnam.

Q. Why was CMC Telecom born? What pain points did you set out to solve?

CMC Telecom is a converged services provider. Our goal is to become the leading provider of an open, integrated telecommunications and information technology ecosystem for domestic and regional businesses. In the long-lived service industries, the five-star standard represents the ultimate service quality. This standard has yet to be defined in the telecommunications and information technology industries. Over the past 10 years of development, since 2008, CMC Telecom has been pursuing the mission of providing five-star services to deliver the best experience to customers. CMC Telecom’s five-star standard is self-defined through five elements: people, services, technology, partners, and most importantly, customers.

Q. What methodology does CMC Telecom implement to exceed customer expectations?

We acknowledge that customers are not always the only ones who use our services; end-users are also equally important. The team at CMC Telecom places a high priority on comprehending the objectives that clients and partners have when using the company’s services, as well as the significance of these objectives.

Q. Can you introduce us to your telecommunications services? What are their key features?

CMC Telecom provides five core services: Internet connectivity, data center, cloud computing, security service and IT outsourcing.

Connectivity & Internet: A stable, reliable, and secure connectivity is the key to the successful business operation of digital enterprises. CMC Telecom completely delivers the outstanding customer experience with a dedicated 24/7 operation team in charge of monitoring, warning, and proactive troubleshooting for all customers, with a particular focus on stable quality and a commitment in bandwidth and advanced connectivity standards.

CMC Telecom’s CVCS backbone system (Cross Vietnam Cable System) is the first Vietnam cable system to connect through Southeast Asia, directly connecting to the A-Grid telecommunication infrastructure network and five submarine cable systems: AAE1, APG, A-Grid, Unity, and Faster.

Data Center: CMC Telecom’s Data Center is the only one in Vietnam to be in the Top Four leading service providers in Asia as ranked by the Telecom Asia Awards. Beside consistently being positioned as a neutral data center service provider, CMC Telecom always values security and stability as the most important factors of a data center. CMC Telecom is the first company in Vietnam to have achieved the PCI DSS secure payment certificate, strict compliance with ISO 27001:2013 and ISO 9001:2015 standards. It is operated by highly-qualified technical experts holding international certificates such as CDCE, CDCS, CDCP, CDFOM, and so on.

CMC Telecom currently owns an ecological system comprised of three data centers: CMC Tower (Hanoi), SHTP (HCMC), and Tan Thuan (HCMC). CMC Telecom’s Tan Thuan Data Center is also the first and only DC in Vietnam to hold the TVRA (Threat, Vulnerability, and Risk Assessment) certificate, the highest security and risk prevention certificate for a DC in the world. The TVRA standard is a stringent standard established by the State Bank of Singapore for DCs in Singapore that is referenced and applied by senior DCs throughout the region. CMC Data Center Tan Thuan is also the first DC in Vietnam to hold the two highest Uptime Institute DC certificates at the same time, TCDD (Tier Certification Design Documents) and TCCF (Tier Certification Constructed Facility).

Cloud Computing: In addition to the core telecommunications services like Internet, and data centers, CMC Telecom has defined cloud as an important component of the digital transformation process. CMC has been working closely with Microsoft, Google, Amazon, IBM, etc. to deliver these tech giants’ cloud services to serve Vietnamese enterprises. The biggest competitive advantage of CMC Telecom’s cloud service is the ability to directly connect to the data centers of the world’s leading cloud service providers via private transmission connectivity to ensure high speed, low latency, and higher security compared to normal connections.

CMC Telecom has also developed its own cloud service, named CMC Cloud, and been the first Vietnamese company to launch Multi-Cloud Service to provide customers with flexibility, affordability, and a comprehensive solution. CMC Telecom is also Vietnam’s first company to achieve two certificates specifically for cloud services, which are: Information Security – ISO 27017 and Protection of Personally Identifiable Information – ISO 27018.

Tell us, what’s next for CMC Telecom.

The data center or cloud is the heart of digital infrastructure, where data is stored. Connectivity includes the Internet as the lifeblood, the connection to the heart, and data transmission. The development of DCs in accordance with the most international, modern, and secure standards in Vietnam and on par with the APC region will promote data storage in industries ranging from banking and financial services, logistics, e-commerce, enterprise, and the public sector, resulting in the natural growth of connectivity.
