thesiliconreview-richard-higham-group-chief-executive-acteon-17Acteon, a subsea specialist company, brings together best-in-class expertise, products and services to work closely in sharing innovations, reducing cost, risk and complexity for operators, drillers and contractors. Subsea services are defined as the provision of specialist equipment, personnel and services that can operate from any available or fit-for purpose vessel. Formed in 2004, the company’s combined strength, skill and experience enables it to provide unique skills and technologies for the entire life of the field, from exploration to decommissioning.

Acteon delivers subsea services to support operators, contractors and drillers. The company primarily helps its clients navigate what can be a complex sector and provide expert project advice and subsea services solutions under one roof. Through an integrated services approach that brings together complementary branded services, Acteon is one of the few companies to provide industry-leading capabilities across this operational environment.

Acteon’s raison d’être

The subsea specialist brings together various companies to combine the benefits of being a global business with those of being an independent market specialist; delivering additional customer value through integrated operations, technical innovation and service excellence when working individually or collectively. Its success is founded on fresh thinking, innovation and encouragement through which new ideas emerge as responses to understanding client needs and delivering what is required to meet them.

Acteon fiercely believes in preserving the character, drive and focus of its team as the company expands. The company is represented in all the major offshore oil and gas capitals and is involved in projects in most of the world’s prime exploration and production arenas.

This often results in novel, project-enhancing solutions to operating challenges. Acteon companies work collaboratively and flexibly to provide unrivalled support, allowing for the delivery of complex projects around the world across the entire life of field.

Here are three of Acteon’s successfully completed projects:

Multi Operator Abandonment Campaign

OIS, an Acteon company successfully completed its 17th multi-operator well suspended abandonment campaign in the North Sea. A total of six subsea wells were abandoned on behalf of Nexen Petroleum UK, Talisman Sinopec Energy UK and Hess Services UK.

The multi-operator model, which enables operators to share project costs, combined with the rigless approach, provides a cost-effective way to decommission non-revenue generating assets and comply with Oil and Gas UK guidelines when compared to a rig based alternative.

CASIM Used Off Crane Barge to Set Tree Down On Wellhead

An advanced system designed to safely and economically lower subsea equipment proves that complex installation procedures can be taken off the critical path and performed from small, easily available vessels instead of costly drilling rigs and construction vessels.

The compensated anchor-handler subsea installation method, or CASIM, was developed by deepwater mooring systems specialist InterMoor. It can be used to install equipment such as suction-embedded plate anchors, suction piles, subsea trees and manifolds.

Shell BC10 Conductor Pre Installation

Approximately one month of deepwater drilling rig time was saved by Shell Brazil E&P during early development work in Block BC10, in the Campos Basin. This was the result of an innovative template and conductor installation exercise, which involved a number of industry firsts, performed by Acteon Company InterMoor.

Working in up to 1950 m of water from the back deck of a class DP2 anchor-handling vessel (AHV) with an attendant cargo barge, InterMoor successfully installed; two artificial lift module (ALM) templates, one four-slot weighing 55 tonnes and a second two-slot weighing 35 tonnes, Six foundation conductors for the two templates.

The company’s executive team has a wealth of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry and expertise across a range of business areas. Acteon continues to grow by focusing on and developing new, complementary niche services that extend its life-of-field capability in support of clients.
