“Our core values are creativity, respect, honesty, commitment to quality, and passion for technology and innovation.”

The coronavirus pandemic and the war between Russia and Ukraine brought to light some problems linked to supply chain dependence and a component shortage in the European industry. The current context has led authorities and companies to take action to reduce such dependence; for example, through Joe Biden’s Covid stimulus plan to invest in infrastructure and equipment to produce components to reduce dependence and carbon footprint. The commitment assumed by countries to improve the sustainability of the planet is also impacting investment.

These effects are boosting growth in demand for solutions for automating production processes, which therefore improves the competitiveness of the industry and the concern for the environment. These trends favor the demand for innovative ideas that seek to modernize production with automated and digital solutions. It will help to reduce CO2 emissions and pollutants generated during manufacturing processes and due to freight transport.

In this context, GPAINNOVA, a technology platform, is working on several projects to create a cleaner and safer work environment, enlarge consumables’ lifespan, reduce the carbon footprint by promoting reverse logistics, and improve waste management.

GPAINNOVA along with its two sub-brands DLyte and MURUA specialise in surface metal finishing machinery. Its other subsidiaries that serve clients in other industries include GPAMEDICAL (medical devices), GPASEABOTS (naval robotics), and POWER INNOTECH (high-performance power electronics). These subsidiaries operate from Sunrise (Florida, USA), Hong Kong and Shenzhen (China).

Currently, GPASEABOTS and POWER INNOTECH are involved in international programs about aquatic media preservation and clean, renewable energies.

GPAINNOVA team comprises 190 professionals, excluding 40 engineers and 55 distributors. It serves as many as 600 international clients. With a turnover of €23.2 million in 2021 (47% more than the previous year), the group continues to grow by leaps and bounds.

GPAINNOVA was selected by ‘Financial Times’ among the ‘1,000 Europe's Fastest Growing Companies in 2020, 2021, and 2022.’ It is also among the four of Europe’s fastest-growing companies in the industrial goods sector, being the first one in Spain. In February 2022, GPAINNOVA was awarded as the ‘Best Multinational Industrial Technology Group 2021’ at the European Enterprise Awards. In addition, DLyte Desktop, the first ultra-compact dry electropolishing machine was selected as the ‘Most Innovative Electropolishing Machine 2021.’

In March 2022, GPAINNOVA received the Innovation Award at the Empresa de l’Any (Company of the Year) Awards 2021, organized by El Periódico de Catalunya and Banc Sabadell. At its turn, DLyte eBlast was shorlisted a a finalist in the TCT Post-Processing Awards 2022 and the Innovative Trophy 2022 at the 3D Print Lyon Exhibition 2022 (the winner will be announced on June 8th and April 8th).

GPAINNOVA was incorporated in 2013 and is headquartered in Barcelona, Catalonia.

The Silicon Review contacted Pau Sarsanedas, CEO of GPAINNOVA, who spoke about how the group is making a difference in this segment and plans to stay at the forefront. Below is an excerpt.

We, at GPAINNOVA, are fully focused on providing a positive customer experience to offer cost-effective solutions to achieve the highest quality in our industrial processes. We focus on energy efficiency, the conservation of the environment, and the improvement of people's well-being through our efficient solutions.”

Among our many milestones, it is worth highlighting DLyte, the first surface finishing system based on dry electropolishing.”

Points of Differentiation

GPAINNOVA is all set to make any technology-based project a reality and to respond to the demands of its investors and clients. The group can manage the complexity of the projects, from the conception of the idea to the implementation of the product and the introduction to the market. The group is also different from other companies in its sector since it has generated an organic system that allows it to grow while keeping the lines open and integrating new ones.

One of the limitations and shortcomings in companies from Southern Europe is not having cross-cutting capacities grouped in a single entity to make large-scale projects a reality. Faced with this scenario, we want to meet these needs.”

Importantly, GPAINNOVA is continuously investing in R&D to continue leading the market in terms of innovation, digitalization, and state-of-the-art technology. The group is also working to reach more partnerships and cooperation agreements to gain know-how and expertise in key sectors. These alliances guarantee companies’ supply chains while avoiding bottlenecks in manufacturing processes. Since one of the biggest factors in good customer service is speed, the group is focused on meeting deadlines and providing the best possible service to distributors and final customers. Regarding talent, the organization spares no effort in improving its recruiting and retention strategies, while betting on continuous training to get the most out of the workforce’s potential. At the same time, GPAINNOVA is interested in attracting investors to overcome budgetary restrictions that could limit the growth.

Our core values are creativity, respect, honesty, commitment to quality, and passion for technology and innovation.”

More importantly, our goal is to go further and faster.

Expanding Global Footprint

Through its subsidiary, GPASEABOTS, GPAINNOVA is about to launch two new products related to water cleaning in sheltered waters. In addition to this, the group via GPAMEDICAL plans to design a new medical device. In the coming months, the group will open a new subsidiary in Switzerland to develop research about the consumables of the DryLyte Technology (‘TCT Award for Excellence in Additive Manufacturing Post-Processing 2018’) used in DLyte machines. GPAINNOVA is also about to increase its future production resources based on the group’s growth plans and works directly with test labs to carry out all the necessary functions.

Corporate Social Responsibility in Action

Since CSR is part of GPAINNOVA’s DNA, the organization is fully committed to improving people's quality of life and business performance. For this reason, the group’s activity revolves around the below four pillars:

  • Automation and digitalization: Through the most advanced surface finishing solutions on the market, the group helps companies to work more cost-effectively.
  • Preservation and restoration of the environment: The group promotes a cleaner and non-hazardous manufacturing process via its sub-brand DLyte, marine robotics for the protection and preservation of ecosystems in oceans and seas via GPASEBOTS, and clean energies via POWER INNOTECH.
  • GPAINNONA ensures healthy lives and promotes well-being for people via GPAMEDICAL.
  • GPAINNOVA promotes the social and labor insertion of people at risk of exclusion, cooperating with the third sector and local entities.
