The way we communicate has changed drastically in the digital age and continues to evolve at a breath-taking speed. Virtual seminars can connect leaders across the globe, reducing the need for physical meetings and business travel; instant messaging can resolve peer doubts in seconds; and new applications which help us plan and organize our work reduce the volume of unnecessary emails. Companies create virtual teams. They communicate and collaborate online and not in a shared office space. Technology enables businesses of any size to operate on a global scale. And adopting regional workforces or allowing employees to work remotely has many benefits. It also adds complexity to how we communicate, especially when you take into account different time zones and language barriers. Remote communication is a way of communicating with others online. Meetings, information, and training materials are shared over the internet. Effective communication is the bedrock of organizational success and new habits acquired from remote working can have tremendous benefits. The quick adoption of remote working has accelerated many organizations digital transformation journey. However, for remote working to become an organizational strength rather than just a solution in times of need, communication and the role of technology needs to become a key area of focus.
