Point Blank provides off duty police officers for traffic control on highway construction sites and off duty police for security services. When the TSR asked Stacey Magovern, the Founder and CEO of Point Blank Safety Services, about the motivation behind starting the company, she stated that “In 2005, I met and married the love of my life, Michael Magovern, a police officer. We moved to the DFW metroplex. He continued to work as a police officer, and I got another outside sales position. During this time as a police wife, I learned a lot about police officers. These amazing people that put their lives on the line every day in most departments are paid very little. They rely on off-duty work to make ends meet. I watched my husband try to supplement our income with off duty work here and there with no real guarantee of work and very random opportunities. It was a difficult time. I worked full-time, and he was on the four pm-midnight shift. We rarely saw each other. Then it came to me my next big idea.”

She furthermore added that “I wanted to start a management company for police and off duty work. How great would it be if each officer could schedule their off-duty work and know exactly how much additional income they would have each month? It made perfect sense to me. This motivated me to start my own company Point Blank Safety Services, in 2012. We are now one of the largest traffic safety companies in Texas.” Stacey is thankful for the time she spent trying to create a business, even though there were moments when she wanted to give up. “I truly believe if I had this success in my twenties, I wouldn’t appreciate it as much as I do. Life is all about timing,” she says. “It was a normal day in September of 2014. I was getting ready for work in the bathroom when the doorbell rang. It was Fed Ex at the door with a package for Point Blank Safety Services. You need to understand that at this point, my company was still just an idea and a business card. It did not get packages. I opened it to find a 300-page contract valued at 1.5M dollars to use our officers for traffic control on a three-year project in Dallas. I did it! I took an idea and turned it into a business that would not only change my life but the lives of hundreds of police officers.”

Stacey Magovern was born and raised in Abilene, Texas, and daughter to Lin Rushing, who was an Abilene Icon. Stacey is a successful businesswoman and an author. Stacey completed her Bachelors of Arts in Communications and worked in a retail clothing store and then as an outside salesperson. She is now the CEO and Founder of Point Blank Safety Services and Blue Family Fund. Inc After building an outside sales career through networking and exceeding all sales goals, she followed her dreams to running her own business. Her life story serves as a great motivational example to all those who want to turn their passion into a million-dollar business. She started her own business at the age of 24, and then she never looked back. However, going from a salesperson to running a multi-million dollar company didn’t happen overnight. Being the wife of a police officer Michael Magovern, she launched her company Point Blank Safety Services in 2012 by providing security and traffic services by police officers and helping them supplement their incomes.

Her company has become one of the most successful traffic safety and security companies in Texas. In 2017 Stacey and Michael founded the nonprofit organization Blue Family Fund. She decided to give something back to the community by providing scholarships for the First Responder dependents and financial aid to the families of injured or fallen law enforcement officers. Staying ahead of the curve and Future Roadmap

Security services firms face a dynamic environment marked by industry consolidation, new competitors, technical innovation, and uncertainties. Point Blank understood that one of the most important strategies is to outsource. You are only one person. You cannot do it all. The key to outsourcing is knowing what you are good at. Stacey is good at sales and business development, and she loves it. As she is not good at bookkeeping or schedule, her husband does the entire officer scheduling for her company. Stacey has personally heard that a lot of business owners say they can’t afford to outsource. You will never have a scalable business if you don’t outsource. Outsourcing goes hand in hand with another strategy, which is to surround yourself with other successful people. If you do this, you will find the right resources to outsource to. The other key is to always be learning; every industry is constantly changing, so stay up to date and never get complacent. I believe the moment things seem to be going smoothly is the moment you should push harder. Point Blank has recently partnered with Team Focus to provide corporate training courses such as Behavioral Based Safety and Active Shooter Training. In the coming years, Point Blank will continue to be the go-to company when you need a police officer for traffic control or site security throughout the State of Texas.
