TIPS Salud, a technology and informatics company, is made up of an interdisciplinary group of systems and medical professionals, whose objective is to provide comprehensive services and solutions to companies and organizations (both public and private) in the healthcare industry. The company operates across Argentina.

The Silicon Review contacted Cecilia Camillucci, President of TIPS Salud, who spoke about how the company is making a difference in this segment and plans to stay at the forefront. Below is an excerpt.

Q. Setbacks are a part of every growing business. Tell us about a few roadblocks and learning lessons that have helped Tips Salud grow over the years?

Throughout the last few years, we have learned that it is more important to act rather than to just talk about your actions. When we started to develop and implement our first hospital management system, there was great reluctance to use technology in the healthcare industry due to costs associated with this solution and the potential impact in data security and complexity in implementation processes. These were the reasons why we decided to train and communicate with all employees and executives of every client institution from the beginning of each project, to assure a clear comprehension of the benefits of systems use, both for patients and healthcare personnel.  

Moreover, we have created our own implementation methodology which has a transcendental component that distinguishes us from others. We carry out peer-to-peer training within a network in health management and the healthcare industry in general. In this setting, physicians train physicians, nurses train nurses, pharmaceuticals to pharmaceuticals, accountants to accountants, and so on. Thus, we achieve an adequate transfer of professional knowledge and work processes of software use and cooperation to other members of the organization.

Step by step, we were able to demonstrate how these informatics solutions helped healthcare professionals in clinical decision making, improved data flow and information, and reduced response time. This has improved quality in healthcare, patient safety, and resource management.

In other words, we have an integrated system that covers all the processes of an individual health institution or for a care network.

The patient's Electronic Medical Record allows these data to be transformed into information and clinical knowledge to improve hospital efficiency and effectiveness, patient safety, quality of care, and continuity of care, among other benefits.

The possibility of accessing the clinical history from anywhere, with robust medical coding systems, results in great benefits for the patient in terms of safety and effectiveness of care.

Q. From your perspective, how is the industry you serve currently evolving? And what are the trends in the different categories?

The Health informatics industry is evolving at a pace never seen before; given the arrival of new HW and SW platforms that have allowed a specific use of artificial intelligence. That said, we are en route to personalized medicine, in which systems will help to diagnose diseases, recommend the best treatment, and track patient recovery.
Furthermore, technology is bound to prevent diseases or at least delay their onset, prevent complications for patients with existing diseases, facilitate patients' access to healthcare systems, and particularly, improve continuity of care.

From an educational perspective, virtual simulations, both technical and relational, will allow to educate and train new physicians and nurses, accelerating both training periods and improving graduated qualities.

Q. Where does Tips Salud stand at the moment relative to other participants in the industry?

We are leading the way in the healthcare management systems segment in Latin America. Our specialists participate in collaborative projects together with tech and educational institutions around Europe and North America — to identify and adopt good practices in technical, clinical, and management perspectives. Our products are fully adopted in revenue cycles used in LATAM.

Q. How is Tips Salud reshaping the healthcare sector?

We have been pioneers in high-quality system development that incorporates globally-recognized and state-of-the-art processes and procedures. That said, our solutions help our clients to optimize their processes, reduce operative costs, and improve healthcare quality and safety.

Q. How responsive is Tips Salud to the changing needs of its clients?

We consider our clients as partners. Thus, we are in constant communication with them to identify new issues and needs and develop solutions that provide answers to their situations. In that setting, a recent example and the case of success was the development of an integrated module for the use of telemedicine to provide clinical support in critical care units (Tele-ICU) during the Covid-19 pandemic. Within two months, we were able to develop and implement the solution.   

Q. That’s not all Tips Salud does. What are its other focus areas?

TIPS Salud is fully dedicated to developing solutions, implementing them, and providing support to our clients. Needless to say, our products deliver expected benefits to our clients.

Q. No doubt Tips Salud is charting new territories in this segment. Given how frequently circumstances change, what plans for transformation are you pursuing to remain relevant now and in the future?

We are aware that hospitals are going through a constant transformation, and technology plays a key role to ensure that. Therefore, our everyday work is focused on providing solutions in the setting of the need to take care of patients outside inpatient units, need to improve patient experience, improve patient journey efficiency, and contribute with clinical decision support systems.
