Dr. R. Kishore Kumar founded Cloudnine in 2007 to realize his vision of high quality healthcare in India, on par with international standards. He saw a lot of deaths during his training in India, but hardly saw any deaths during his 16 years tenure in the developed world. He realised that the “intact” survival of a premature baby meant a lot to the parents. Hence he had this dream of providing similar care in India, and is committed to his passion for scaling new heights in neonatology. He pioneered this concept of maternal healthcare in India with Cloudnine – a facility dedicated to providing exclusive and comprehensive services in maternal and child care. As the Founding Chairman, Managing Director and senior neonatologist, he has been instrumental in securing the pinnacle attained by Cloudnine today.

• Level-III NICU with GE Giraffe incubators, a hi-tech single bed to care for the newborns, which removes the hassle of shifting babies from one bed to another, LED phototherapy units, Hill-Rom birthing beds and various other things that are available in the world today.
• We use technology to a great extent to make the experience of the prospective parents – with paperless notes in most of our hospitals, digitalization of many office practices, appointment schedules, etc.
• Analytics to figure out the incidence of gestational diabetes in a population set to allow doctors to predict a patient’s propensity to get gestational diabetes.
• Wearable or smartphone-based technology to track vitals and other medical information of pregnant mothers, which will sync information to hospital staff whenever mothers check into the hospital portal.
• Content on an app for patients to understand pregnancy and also connect with their doctors on the app for ensuring simplicity and efficiency.
• Other post-pregnancy services like monitoring the health of the baby through a wearable.

The roadmap ahead

Cloudnine is striving to expand its network across geographies while maintaining its singular focus on woman and child healthcare. It has 19 centres across 6 cities in India including Bengaluru, Chennai, Gurugram, Pune, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Chandigarh, and is very soon opening its next centre in Noida.

Meet the thought leaders

Dr. R. Kishore Kumar, Founder, Chairman and Senior Neonatologist & Paediatrician

Dr. Kishore is an internationally acclaimed neonatologist who has worked in four continents over the course of his career – covering North America, UK, Asia and 12 years in Australia. He completed his MBBS; DCH and an MD from India - with a gold medal from Mysore University in MD; then DCH; MRCP (Paed) & FRCPCH from UK as well as MRCPI (Paed) and FRCPI from Ireland. He has also completed his Fellowship in Advanced Neonatal Intensive Care (FNIC) from Monash University with an FRACP from Sydney, Australia. At the time of his qualification, he was amongst one of the youngest and highest qualified neonatologists in the world. Among his many awards and accreditations is the honour of being felicitated by former US President Bill Clinton for his exceptional achievements in the field of neonatology.

Mr. Akash Malik, Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Akash Malik is the Chief Executive Officer at Cloudnine Group of Hospitals, where he is leading the organization’s growth into a national chain. Earlier, Akash was the Business Head for Vision Care at Bausch & Lomb, the market leader in contact lenses and lens care products in India. Before Bausch & Lomb, Akash held various senior positions in the beverages business of Pepsico India, ICI Paints and Godrej GE Appliances. In his different roles, Akash has spearheaded several innovative initiatives to drive business growth and exceed targets. Akash did his post-graduation from IIM Calcutta and holds a B.Tech degree from IIT-BHU, Varanasi. Akash joined the company 5 years ago as CEO.
