Gone are the days when companies could pass the headaches of cyber security to the IT department, as it has become more of a business issue too. This is especially important as businesses are more digitized, meaning they are exposed to an increasing number of threats if they do not manage the risk of security properly. While more businesses understand the value of shifting their mindset in cyber security from questioning if their business will experience an attack to when will they be threatened and how will they respond, they still need to address cyber security as the business risk it is.

In light of the above-mentioned concern, we are thrilled to present Netbr Technology Ltda., a Brazilian company specialized in identity management, access and privilege in information environments.

The firm focuses on identifying gaps in the technological infrastructure and provide solutions through products and services focused on Infrastructure, Security, Compliance, and IT Automation.

Established in 2003, the company is headquartered in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Interview Excerpt: Andre Facciolli, CEO

Why was the company set up? How did you select the vertical and decide to be a part of the global platform?

After working with high-end technologies, such as Automation, Governance and DeepSecurity, we figured out, there was a gap of such experience in Brazil, for Brazilian Companies. So, we decided to align with outside services companies and make their services available locally. The decision proved fruitful for us as we were able to create some unique offerings while putting together best-of-class technologies and services.

We engaged with global companies in EUA (Governance), Netherlands (Automation), and Hungary (Access Monitoring).

Today, 78 percent of large and medium-sized companies operating in Brazil already have explicit management and identity governance programs, or are in the process of implementing this topic. On the other hand, another 12 percent of these companies still do not even have projects to tackle the problem.

The established index of companies with clear policies in the area of access and identity reflects a recent maturation on the subject in Brazil, considering that the situation was already much more serious a few years ago. But the current rate of abstention (12 percent), although small, is extremely significant in view of the risks involved, and shows how much Brazil still falls short of the maturity of the US governance market.

Tell us about your first product that was launched.

With a history of success and innovation in the Brazilian market, in infrastructure management, security and data center automation, we created a differentiated solution in the market to solve critical IT problems by linking Compliance and Automation with RbaLogic – our first product. It was launched in 2012.

Rba Logic enables the data center manager or service provider to find pre-built tools for immediate use in tasks that typically require human intervention in support, security remediaton and remote intervention activities on servers or user machines.

What’s the importance of the automation on privileged access and identity governance?

Privileged access is performed by organizations’ most powerful identities because they lead to critical information operating systems, applications, network devices, and databases.

To speak in a systematic way, our goal is to cover the entire management and governance cycle of access and identity. This involves both the identity of users and logical entities in the network, as well as their relation with high privileges and tasks.

Our approach is to provide risk mitigation and security enforcement, as well as increasing the efficiency of access authorizations, in order to get quick and agile less privilege principle.

We locate the privileges on the network, and define policies and behaviours captured automatic way via our proxy solution, that identify patterns to create task automation via RPA (robotic process automation) models. It also helps companies to leverage their sinergy of risk and security, and operation efficiency with least privilege approach by automation.

Other good example about benefits of automation around security, it’s the use of robots to delivery phishing and malware investigation and remediation.

What were the grounds on which you have expanded your company and its offerings over the years?

We specialize in identifying technological infrastructure gaps and supplying solutions through products and services. Based on the technical diagnosis and the experience in analogous production environments, we have built several scenarios of possible solutions, with the aim of offering the best that suits the conditions of the client, taking into account quality, cost, and term. Our main DNA credential is the delivery of critical infrastructure projects(on security, risk and automation) in large national financial, service, and telco companies with success and satisfaction.

We are experiencing a rapid change of vision regarding the role of digital identity in the context of information environments, as well as how to approach identity confirmation in resource management processes and IT data access cycles.

Let me briefly state that such a change translates into the evolution of identities control practices and their technical rules of attribution. These developments move these elements to a higher and more comprehensive level; a level where identity policies are now addressed in their direct relationship with applications and business, by dynamic context.

Andre Facciolli, CEO: Mr. Facciolli has been in the IT sector for over 25 years. He has worked with Citibank, Platinum Technologies, NetIQ and many other reputed organizations including BMC Software.

Mr. Facciolli holds a degree in Computer Science from Sao Paulo University, Sao Paulo and a Masters degree in Administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas, Sao Paulo, and Telecommunications from IMT, Sao Paulo.
