Possibility is, Windows 10 will be hard to get on the launch day. Microsoft is rolling out the update to existing PCs in waves as it tries to squeeze in as much compatibility testing and bug fixing as possible, while most PC vendors are taking extra time to test their hardware and pre-load their own software. It is a good strategy to wait for the dust to settle down and bring Windows 10 in hot, but it seems like people have other options with Dell and HP if they want to participate in the launch festivities.
Dell and HP, unlike other PC makers, are ensuring guaranteed delivery of Windows 10 computers on July 29. has already started offering a handful laptops and desktops with Windows 10 on board. For Windows 10’s official launch, if the company gets orders today before 3 p.m. according to the Eastern time, then the product will ship today and arrive tomorrow.
HP is also running a similar promotion on their website by making good on an earlier promise of not missing the launch. Any orders that come in by 8 p.m. according to the Eastern time, will get free delivery on July 29.
Both the promotions are covering just a small sampling of PCs from these two vendors. Dell’s sale includes 11 laptops and four desktops, except the stellar XPS 13. HP’s sale includes five laptops and three desktops, a 22-inch all-in-one PC and the refreshingly bloatware-free Spectre x360 convertible.
While Acer has said that it will start selling Windows 10 PCs from July 29 with early-August shipping, Lenovo is not thinking to ship computers with Windows to until mid-August. Microsoft itself has noted that most other vendors and retailers are sticking with Windows 8.1 for now as they want to upgrade Windows 10 for free after the launch.
