Microsoft’s Co-founder Paul Allen No More
The Silicon Review
16 October, 2018

Microsoft’s co-founder Paul Allen, who started Microsoft with Bill Gates, died at the age of 65 on Monday.

According to a report, the cause of death was non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. He recovered from the disease in 2009 after taking radiations but in 2018, the disease started to spread again.

This October, Allen revealed about his cancer treatment. In the early 1980s, before leaving Microsoft, he had an early brush with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Paul Allen’s birthplace was Seattle. He was born on Jan. 21, 1953. His father was a librarian and his mother was a teacher. Allen and Bill met during school in Seattle in 1968, and soon they both discovered that their passion was the same.

For the first eight years in Microsoft, Allen was in charge of the company’s technical operations. He was involved in the creation of software like MS-DOS and Word, which transformed the computing world and pushed Microsoft to the Top.

In 1983, Allen left Microsoft. That year Microsoft was in the phase of becoming a corporate juggernaut. The shares that Allen had with the company were enough to enjoy the rest of his life without any work. He spent the money on art, brain research, real estate, sports team, rock music, yachts, and many more activities.

Allen was a good philanthropist like Bill Gates, he donated more than $1.5B in his lifetime and pledged to donate more.
