Google Launches Its New Spam Protection Feature for Android

Google Launches Its New Spam Protection Feature for Android
The Silicon Review
31 December, 2018

Tech Behemoth Google has launched a new feature called the spam protection feature. The new feature is designed for Android smartphones and will allow its users to safeguard their messages. Currently, it is available for some users but will be rolled out globally for everyone very soon.

Since the new feature will be a server end launch, a notification about the feature will be sent to all the phones once their phones receive the settings. To manually install the new feature, users need to open the setting menu and then the advanced settings option. After that choose the spam protection option and click the enable spam protection.

The new feature will alert about all the new spam messages in the messaging app. According to a report, once the feature is enabled, certain information about the messages about messages that are received by the users on their smartphones will be automatically sent to Google. But, message content will not be shared, i.e. message body or the phone number.

When a user will enable the feature too, they will see the same alert below the enable protection menu.

The back end mechanism of the new feature is still unknown, but maybe the feature looks at that data statistically to determine commonalities between spam messages. Especially, if a user manually sends spam, it still passes the full message to Google, which also includes the phone number of both the users along with the message contents.

Hope, this new feature will be helpful to the users.
