There are a lot of ups and downs in the VR and AR market, but the new chipset by the San-Diego based technology firm, Qualcomm will boost many VR and AR devices. Today, Qualcomm has unveiled the launch of its new chipset for standalone headsets. Dubbed as XR1, it is the firm’s first dedicated Extended Reality (XR) platform exclusively for AR and VR which has built a new chipset for AR and VR headsets.

“It’s purpose-built for the standalone VR and AR headset category and it’s a demonstration of how much we believe in the VR and AR space. We have a good view on where the market is and where it’s going,” said Hugo Swart, Head of XR business management at Qualcomm.

XR1 will provide a better experience for the users on mainstream devices, as they are packed with high quality visual and audio playback as well as with special interactive controls like 3-DoF and 6-DoF. XR1 powered devices will allow the users to enjoy and stream 4K 30fps content with features like 3D overlays, dual displays and popular graphics APIs OpenGL, OpenCL and Vulkan. In addition, the chipset is embedded with Spectra image signal processor for a noise-free image.

Moreover, XR1 has used Qualcomm’s audio technologies like 3D Audio Suite, Aqstic and aptX to enable high-fi to provide a seamless users experience to the people.
