The Smart Speaker Race: Google Beats Amazon and Apple

Many smart speakers are currently out in the market, top players like Google, Amazon, and Apple have all developed these speakers. For now, Google is topping the chart in terms of sales since the report from the latest quarterly says so. Google Home Mini is the best selling products in the current market. Around 11.7 million units were sold in the second quarter of 2018. While Google is hitting the limelight Amazon Echo Dot stood second in the list. But the shocker is Apple’s HomePod is nowhere on the list. But according to a few reports, it showed that Apple HomePod topped the market value ranking by 16% share of the wholesale revenue. Is this a good sign? Only time will tell.

But for now both Google Home Mini and Amazon Echo Dot is really hitting the market with a combined 38% global shipping that is contributing 17% towards the value of the market due to the low price tag. Meaning Google has shipped around 2.3 million units of the Google Home Mini on a global scale in a certain time frame of the second half of 2018. Amazon, on the other hand, has shipped 2.2 million units. Here Alibaba is also on track and the Tmall Genie has occupied 7% of the global smart speaker market.
