A smart shopping cart is all you need to make your shopping hassle-free

Many tech giants including Microsoft and Amazon have been working to make the shopping experience more and more hassle-free and time-saving. Recently, Microsoft and Kroger were developing a smart shopping solution that enables smartphones to scan groceries at the store. Caper Labs, a startup has now leveled up the game by building a smart shopping cart inbuilt with scanning hardware and a payment terminal. It also has a small touchscreen inbuilt in the cart, designed to help shoppers navigate the store and also to display promotional ads.

Presently, it acts like a traditional barcode scanner that needs the shopper to scan the products they shop. But, the company is planning to make the whole process more convenient and seamless, by adding a weight sensor and recognition cameras into the cart. The company aims to eventually make shopping for groceries a piece of cake!

The obvious advantage herefor supermarkets is that they will need fewer cashiers at the billing desk. However, it doesn’t only benefits shop owners but also helps the shoppers. For instance, they will not have to stand in the queue for billing purpose and also, the touchscreen can help them find the items they are searching for.

If we look at the futuristic goals, it will also be able to suggest what to buy based on the item already placed in the cart. Presently, Caper’s shopping cart is already installed in two stores in New York.
