Konecranes Uses Siemens Platform for Its Product Development Process

A Finland-based company Konecranesis utilizing the Innovation platform of the German automation company Siemens to bolster its product development process. The company is using Siemens innovation platform to carry out the development which aims to create a bridge between products and performance data.

Konecranes is deploying MindSphere, the opened cloud-based IoT OS and the Teamcenter portfolio software in order to leverage the digital twin and cut down the number of prototypes, which can boost efficiency and cut down product validation time. The company’s first usage of IoT is its proof of value, it helped to create a framework that integrates and synchronizes the physical and the virtual worlds.

The company has used a digital twin as a medium for communication approach for all the three organizations to evaluate data and prepare feedback around simulation, engineering and testing intent.

With the help of Siemens platform for digital improvement, the company has been successful to integrate the data from all the organizations for developing a complete report for prototypes.The reports will include the condition and performance of the prototypes, correlating requirements and Real-time data. The issues related to resolution can be solved with the help of a closed-loop digital twin framework based on PLM (product lifecycle management) and the Internet of Things.
