Google’s video game streaming service Stadia is set for a November launch

Google’s video game streaming service Stadia is set for a November launch

For as long as video gaming has existed, players had to purchase a console and then a particular title in order to be able to play. Later on, as computers grew more powerful, video games could be played on computers if the hardware was compatible. But all that is about to change as the gaming industry is definitely headed toward significant changes. The era of purchasing relevant hardware and individual titles could soon be at an end, as tech giants rush to launch streaming services for games. Google seems to be leading that race with its video-game streaming service called Stadia. The company announced that Stadia will be available starting from November this year.

A certain number of selected gaming titles will be available on Google’s cloud for subscribers to stream on a smart television with a Chromecast dongle, for now. However, the California based tech titan plans to make the games available to anyone who has a Chrome browser or a Google Pixel smartphone from next year. Stadia will be available to users in 14 countries starting November. The streaming service would be available at $9.99 a month and would initially feature 31 games. Some of those include Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Destiny 2, Borderlands 3, and so on.

However, Google is not the only company to make forays into video game streaming. Microsoft has also announced its own streaming service and even entered into a collaboration with Sony to broaden its offerings. The future of gaming seems to be streaming.
