Latest technologies like 3D-printing are being used in all business sectors. Now, it is the time for the beauty industry to be technologically equipped. Neutrogena, an American skincare company has aced its game by launching customized 3D-printed face masks. Last year, the company came up with an iPhone accessory called the Skin360 and demonstrated it at CES, the annual show organized to provide a stage to showcase innovation. The Skin360 scans users’ face to examine their skin condition and moisture level in different skin zones. This year, Neutrogena has leveled up its strategy to create a 3D-printed custom face masks through a new iOS app, MaskiD.

The Skin360 can be used to get a detailed assessment of the skin texture and accordingly, helps to choose the right mask for the face. The app uses the TrueDepth camera in the iPhone models like iPhone X, XS, and XR to capture the 3D image of the face. The mask is customized such that it can fit each person’s face perfectly. To begin with, the company offers five main ingredients in the face mask:purified hyaluronic acid, stabilized vitamin C, niacinamide, N-Acetylglucosamine, and feverfew. The mask’s surface is divided into six skin zones including theeye area, cheeks, nose, chin, forehead, and chin-to-cheek lines. The ingredient in each zone can be selected based on the skin texture in thatparticular zone. The masks are colored to show different zones.
