Tesla to unveil a Sentry mode

Tesla to unveil a Sentry mode
The Silicon Review
23 January, 2019

Getting a scratch or a dent on a vehicle is a major cause for concern for most people, given the cost of repairs can burn a hole in their pockets. Furthermore, in case a person doesn’t have insurance, the cost of repairs would most likely discourage him or her from getting their car fixed. Furthermore, car crashes and other accidents can be a huge burden for vehicle owners, especially when claiming money for damages from the insurance provider or the perpetrator. Tesla, the California based electric car giant is about to unveil a feature that would make life easier for victims of accidents and vandalism to claim damages.

Owners of Tesla vehicles would soon have a way to record any damage that their vehicle sustains, according to a tweet from Elon Musk, Tesla’s iconic founder. Musk called the feature as “Tesla Sentry Mode”, but did not give additional details about the new feature. However, as soon as the tweet went out, most people speculated that the Sentry Mode would either keep the dash cam on when the vehicle is parked or that it would turn itself on if the vehicle is hit or in any way tampered with. The dash cam currently in use allows users to record videos into a USB flash drive. Owners can use the car’s interface to record or pause the recording. Videos that are not downloaded are automatically deleted after a specific time period.
