Xnor.ai announces its new First Battery-free, Solar AI Technology
The Silicon Review
14 Febuary, 2019

Xnor.ai (Xnor), an American company has announced about its new innovation, i.e. a standalone battery-free solar-powered AI technology. The announcement was made public on Wednesday.

According to Saman Naderiparizi, Xnor.ai, the new innovation, i.e. the device will continuously run for 32 years on a coin cell battery; detecting things every second.

The new technology allows AI to run constantly without any charge or power on edge devices. Xnor’s solutions identify visual objects; even people. This innovation will boost the power efficiency levels in deep learning models; now the models can be powered on a simple solar cell instead of powerful GPUs which consumed more energy.

The AI technology which is embedded in different solutions like consumer wearable devices, autonomous vehicle, etc. will become more scalable, fast and efficient because of the new innovation.

The size of the solution is so tiny that it can balance on the tip of the fingers. The products which will be created by the new technology will work out of the box without the need to charge, allowing the company to deploy next-gen AI technologies to virtually any device.

The new innovation also sends a strong message that it’s now possible to develop power-efficient AI solutions without harming the environment.

As per reports, the data centers in the US are consuming more and is likely to consume 140M kW-hour of current by 2020 releasing nearly 100 million metric tons of carbon pollution each year.
