Video gaming is a huge part of digital entertainment and has grown to become a massive global industry raking in an astounding $91 billion in 2015 and growing. Ever since its beginning, users had to purchase the necessary hardware and the game to be able to play. But that might soon change as the gaming industry is set to undergo a fundamental transformation. Google has announced plans for its very own streaming service for games and it promises to change the way we play.

The announcement was made by CEO SundarPichai at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco on Tuesday. The streaming service is named Stadia and would stream games from the cloud. This bold move by Google promises to support all kinds of games on cellphones, PCs, Tablet or even TVs.

Google plans to use its vast global network of datacenters to support the ambitious plans and ensure that players anywhere on the globe will not be too far from a server. The company also stated that it's streaming service would support 4K titles at 60fps over an internet speed of 25Mbps. Google also unveiled a Stadia Controller that will work with the streaming service and connect to games through Wifi. This would help players use the controller across platforms.

Google is partnering with AMD to develop a graphics processor in its datacenters that will deliver 10.7 teraflops of power, with each instance of Stadia will be powered by a custom 2.7GHz x86 processor with 16 Gigabytes of RAM.
