Intel unveils new Core H series mobile processors
The Silicon Review
25 April, 2019

Intel Corp. has launched its 9th Gen Core H series mobile processors exclusively for gaming and high-end laptops. The new range of H series processors has been created for gamers and creators.

All the 9thGen H series mobile processors are packed with Intel UHD 630 graphics, Intel Optane memory support, Thunderbolt 3, and Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200.

The top-notched model, 9980HK is a 45W processor. It is fuelled by eight cores and 16 threads. The clock speed of the processor is 2.4GHz and can boost upto 5GHz. The processor features Thermal Velocity Boost technology (TVB) and has cache support of 16MB. Coming to the RAM, the processor sports 128GB of DDR4-2666 RAM.

The Thermal velocity allows the processor to run 100MHz faster if the system has to deal with thermal headroom. The extra speed will be generated as long as case temperatures are below 50°C. Users can enjoy the clock speed of 5GHz with TVB; without it, one can get only a maximum speed of 4.9GHz.

The next version of the H series processor is the Core i9-9980H.The processor is slightly less powerful than 9980HK as it's base clock speed is 2.3 GHz and can shoot up the speed upto 4.8 GHz (Max) in Turbo mode.

The processor comes with 8 cores and 16 threads. The cache support for the processor is 16MB and sports a 128GB DDR4 RAM.

The other ranges of processors include the i7-9850H and the i7-9750H (Core i7 chips) and there are the Core i5-9400H and the Core i5-9300H (Core i5 chips).
