Uber’s former Chief Executive Officer, Ryan Graves, who served the company for a very long time has resigned from the board of directors of the company. In fact, he was Uber’s first employee and played a key role in shaping the company to what it is today. The company, which recently became public, announced the departure on Friday.

“As a thoughtful and dedicated director, Ryan has continued to add value to Uber, offering insights and guidance that have helped us navigate the ups and downs of the business as we have grown over the past decade,”Ron Sugar, the company’s independent chairperson of the board, wrote.“While this is a bittersweet moment, we accept his personal decision that this is the right time for him to step down,” he further added.

Graves joined Uber in 2010 and since then, he was onboard with the team. First as the company’s CEO for a brief stint in 2010, then as the Senior Vice President of global operations from 2011 to 2017, and later as a board member, he immensely contributed to company’s success. He currently leads Saltwater Capital, an investment firm.

Grave’s decision of quitting the companycame weeks after the company finally got its IPO formalities completed. An auto giant recently invested $500 million in Uber’s business, after which it is valued at $72 billion.
