Reports: Apple is working on a 5G-ready Foldable iPad
The Silicon Review
08 July, 2019

A new media report suggests that Apple is developing a foldable iPad which will support 5G and could be available in the market by 2020.

The speculation about the new iPad comes from an analyst from England’s global information provider IHS Market. According to the analyst, The Cupertino giant was secretly developing such devices, the reports added.

The reports on the basis of the claims suggest that the screen size of the new iPad will be similar to a MacBook. The pro version of the iPad already features 12.9-inch screen. The analyst suggests that the new iPad would also feature 5G cellular radios for operating the internet fast in smartphones.

Apple hasn’t produced any 5G-based devices yet. The company is likely to launch three new models of iPhone this year itself.

It will be interesting to see if really the new foldable iPad comes into the market. In order to make things happen, Apple will have to make its OS compatible with foldable devices for a seamless experience among connected devices.

In this year’s Mobile World Congress, companies such as TCL, Royole Corp, Samsung, and Huawei unveiled their foldable smartphones. The foldable concept seems promising but Samsung’s new foldable smartphone users started experiencing problems with the display.

After the Samsung Galaxy fold debacle, Huawei also delayed its Mate X foldable smartphone launch.
