Keeping in mind that tech will ruin the authenticity of medieval sport; the people in England have decided that it is better to implement Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology. This is happening for the very first time and now events occurring in Jousting will be closely observed through this tech.

Tagging with Hawk-Eye experts, the English Heritage has now commenced with the trial of the new system at Pendennis Castle in Cornwall. So, two cameras will be positioned at the center of the field. It will be tracking the competitors’ moves that will help in replaying to the right moment. It will keep accurate scorekeeping in mind the speed they will be traveling which is 30mph.

This sport as everyone knows is one of the oldest and most famous sports in the world. It has been practiced for centuries. Blending this old sport with the latest tech may be the right thing to do but many of the old school individuals feel it’s not necessary.

It is important to realize that this sport takes place very quickly and it has to be replayed at the right time and the right angle. So Hawk-eye seems perfect.
