EU's Digital Market Act (DMA), which is scheduled to take effect in March 2024, will help the corporation achieve its ambitions for mobile app stores

According to recent rumors, Microsoft is apparently thinking about creating a mobile games store for iPhones and Android devices, with intentions to start as soon as next year, subject to regulatory approval of its $75 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. According to The Financial Times, Phil Spencer, Microsoft's head of gaming, has said that the EU's Digital Market Act (DMA), which is scheduled to take effect in March 2024, will help the corporation achieve its ambitions for mobile app stores. By asking Apple and Google to open up their systems, the DMA will allow companies to upload their app stores onto iPhones and Android phones.

"Our goal is to offer Xbox and content from our third-party partners on any screen where consumers want to play," as per Phil Spencer, Microsoft's head of gaming. Furthermore he added that, the company cannot immediately get into the mobile gaming segment, but it is very interested in developing a future where there is a possibility. Authorities in the US, Europe, and the UK have voiced worries about the potential effects on competitiveness of Microsoft, the company that owns the Xbox gaming system, buying the company that created Call of Duty, one of the most well-known game franchises in the world. Microsoft is currently engaged in conflict with these authorities as a result.
