A one man startup called Wargr...The app will be brought to other markets, especially those in Asia, and analytics will be developed for more titles.
While the U.K. and U.S. work to stop Microsoft's acquisition of Activision because of worries that it will destroy competition in game distribution, modding, and data analytics, rivalry seems to be thriving in a different (smaller) segment of gaming. Porofessor is a well-known League of Legends companion app that assists players in analyzing and enhancing their playing data. The app was created by Wargraphs, a one-man firm, and is being acquired for up to €50 million ($54 million). The startup and its current products are being acquired by MOBA Networks, a Swedish company that acquires, develops, and manages online gaming communities (MOBA is an acronym for "multiplayer online battle arena").
The app will be brought to other markets, especially those in Asia, and analytics will be developed for more titles. Although I use the word "startup" here, it may not be in the most literal sense. The calm and collected Jean-Nicholas is the company's sole worker, and he has completely bootstrapped the company himself. That hasn't stopped him, though. With revenues of €12.3 million in its most recent fiscal year, the company, such as this, has been operating for around ten years and has essentially consistently been profitable.
