Mercedes-Benz will launch electric vehicle charging hubs across the globe by the end of 2024

Mercedes will use charge ports adapted to the specific region for its new hubs.

Car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz will build its first electric vehicle (EV) direct current fast-charging hubs in the US, Europe, and China. The firm will initially install the facilities in Atlanta, Georgia, Chengdu, China, and Mannheim, Germany, during Q4 2023, according to a company statement. Mercedes expects to complete 2,000 worldwide by the end of 2024, including 10,000 chargers in Europe, North America, China, and other territories by 2030. Mercedes will use charge ports adapted to the specific region for its new hubs. It will introduce features such as the option to book a charging point via the Mercedes me Charge service and the "Plug * Charge" automation, which lets customers handle the charging and payment process automatically on connection.

Other services will include integration with route planning for navigation and charging, provision of refreshments and restrooms at the hubs, and charging canopies to keep drivers and their cars dry. Mercedes' North American vehicles will have Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) in-built from 2025 onward, while it will offer a NACS adapter for older EVs with CCS ports from 2024.
