Neurowyzr raises $2.1m for its...The funding round was led by Jungle Ventures and Peak XV's Surge program.
Singaporean healthtech startup Neurowyzr has raised $2.1 million in seed funding to develop its Digital Brain Function Screen (DBFS) tool, which assesses immediate memory, working memory, attention, and executive brain function through gamified neurological puzzles. The tool's co-founder, Nav Vij, said there are currently many treatments available for serious brain conditions but few aimed at early intervention. DBFS has been registered with healthcare regulatory bodies in Singapore, the US, and Australia and is used by healthcare providers including Parkway Shenton, SATA Commhealth, and O’Joy in Singapore. The funding round was led by Jungle Ventures and Peak XV's Surge program. The money will be used to develop new products, bring DBFS to primary care settings across Southeast Asia and India, and expand Neurowyzr's operations across the region.
Despite a projected doubling of dementia cases every 20 years, many tools to diagnose the condition, including brain scans, are difficult for patients to access. Startups such as Neurowyzr are aiming to help people get quicker access to healthcare and improve detection rates. Neurowyzr's tool can be completed in 15 to 20 minutes and is intended to be faster and cheaper than traditional cognitive testing tools. Co-founder Pang Sze Yunn became interested in brain healthcare after witnessing the effects of neurodegenerative diseases on family members, especially women caregivers. The startup has now raised $3.3 million since its creation in 2019 and will take part in the 2023 Medtech Innovator Asia Pacific accelerator program.
