Lucid pushed the software update to fix adaptive cruise issue

Lucid software update adaptive cruise issue
The Silicon Review
23 Febuary, 2024

To notify vehicle owners, Lucid intends to dispatch notification letters by March 8, 2024

Lucid USA, Inc. has issued a recall for certain Lucid Air vehicles manufactured between 2022 and 2024, citing a potential software glitch that could result in an abrupt loss of drive power, significantly heightening the risk of a collision. Identified under NHTSA Campaign Number 24V076000, this recall affects approximately 189 units. The software issue, found in versions 2.1.2 to 2.1.26, pertains to faulty adaptive cruise control software, which may trigger the loss of drive power. Lucid has taken proactive measures to address this concern by releasing a free over-the-air (OTA) software update in October 2023 to rectify the problem.

According to the recall report, all Lucid Air vehicles operating on software versions predating the Remedy Version (versions 2.1.2 through 2.1.26) are susceptible. Following a customer's encounter with the fault in December 2023, a comprehensive investigation confirmed the necessity of the recall to ensure the safety of all affected vehicles. Lucid demonstrates its commitment to safety and customer satisfaction by promptly addressing the issue at no expense to vehicle owners, including reimbursement for any incurred costs before the official notification if the software update was implemented to address this specific defect. Vehicles manufactured between November 10, 2021, and December 5, 2023, fall within the scope of this recall. As of October 8, 2023, Lucid has ensured that all new vehicles leaving the factory are updated to software version 2.1.30 or later, thereby mitigating the identified risk for future owners.
