Traverse City Light & Powe...Among the program's key features are rebate programs for electric lawn tools and e-bikes, designed to help customers save energy and reduce costs
Traverse City Light & Power (TCLP), Michigan’s public power utility, has introduced a new initiative, “My Clean Choice,” aimed at helping customers adopt environmentally sustainable practices. This rebranded program, previously known as “Going Green,” reflects TCLP’s commitment to reducing carbon footprints and encouraging greener lifestyles.
“My Clean Choice” offers a suite of resources, tools, and incentives designed to make the transition to sustainability seamless for customers. Among the program's key features are rebate programs for electric lawn tools and e-bikes, designed to help customers save energy and reduce costs. In addition, the program offers on-bill financing with loans of up to $30,000 at a low 3% interest rate, enabling customers to make energy-efficient home improvements. The initiative also includes programs that promote renewable energy generation and voluntary green pricing, where customers can opt to pay a premium on their electricity bills to support the purchase of renewable energy credits. This ensures that an equivalent amount of their energy consumption is sourced from renewable projects.
Moreover, the “Time of Use” rate plan encourages customers to shift their electricity usage to off-peak hours, contributing to a more balanced and efficient energy grid. The program's goal, according to TCLP Executive Director Brandie Ekren, is to give consumers the power to make sustainable decisions that improve their everyday lives and the environment. The program is now available to all TCLP customers, reflecting the utility's dedication to environmental stewardship.
