Uber’s First Electric Scooters: Now out on the Streets
The Silicon Review
04 October, 2018

Uber again makes its move by rolling out its first electric scooters in California. The electric scooters are now approved by the city many companies have started bringing in more scooters and leaving it out in the streets. Last year we could see that there were a number of people who have already initiated this move, now giants like Uber is also making this move and is expecting something big in the market. Santa Monica had these devices seen in the streets and many are quite fascinated with its arrival.

These scooters are manufactured by Ninebot, which is the parent company of Segway. By using the app, people can reserve these scooters in prior. It is estimated to cost about $1 USD and 15 cents per minute for a ride. The firm also mentioned that it will be chargeable after the first five minutes.

Also, there is a security precaution where the user after using these scooters need to park it in Uber’s designated areas and failing to do so will be charged with $25 USD as fine. Hence, making it more difficult for users to obtain it since the person using it will be liable of the scooter but with Uber’s ‘scooter swaps’ customers can reserve closer devices while walking to the reserved scooter from the designated area. Let us see how this new move of Uber helps the public.
