Sony and MCU Reconcile: Spiderman to Continue
The Silicon Review
28 September, 2019

The past few months bore witness to a public divorce between Marvel studios and Sony, disappointing many fans over the demise of Spiderman in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films. But a recent revelation from the makers was a source of ecstasy for ‘Spidey’ fans. Marvel, Sony, and Disney are coming together to produce a third part of the popular superhero standalone series ft. Tom Holland. The first movie is slated to hit the theatres on 16thof July, 2021.

Earlier this year, Sony had a rift with the MCU where they decided to stop giving creative rights to the studio. This announcement came soon after the release of Spiderman: Far From Home; the third highest grossing movie of 2019. The movie revealed Spiderman’s identity to the public after ‘Mysterio’s’ crimes. Fans were visibly upset and of the opinion that Sony would not do justice to the character without MCU’s helping hand.

The teenage hero had featured in multiple Avengers’ movies apart from his two standalone movies. Tom Holland was a karate kid of sorts to Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark. The duo won a lot of affection with their repo with each other. This recent end of Hollywood’s most infamous divorce will witness the teenage hero continue to be the friendly neighbourhood vigilante.
